The Process That Heals

What exactly is this thing called Full Therapeutic Disclosure?

First, you get sober. Then, you prepare for a Full Therapeutic Disclosure.

01 Definition

Three Words

What does that actually mean?

Taken separately, we all know the individual words. But when those three words get used together, they become an enigma.

“Full”

means total, complete, nothing left out.

“Therapeutic”

means clinical, professional, studied.

“Disclosure”

means to expose, reveal or to share.

02 The Edge

Why It’s Daunting

They’re daunting. You feel vulnerable.

It can feel like you’re on the edge of a precipice.

The very thought of sharing the stuff in your past is horrendous and terrifying. And yet, your wife, your counselor, therapist or group leader is gently prodding you toward it. It can feel like you’re on the edge of a precipice and any second your feet could slip and you fall headlong into the chasm.

03 My Story

My Own Disclosure

I get it. I’ve been there. I’ve done it.

Mine was a train wreck.

My counselor, who I hold in high regard, said I needed to do it. He said I needed to write my story. He prodded and helped me with it. But he didn’t know that I needed a Guide and more importantly, Lynn (my Beloved) needed a Guide.

I wrote it, read it to him and then took it home and read it to Lynn with no help and no support. By the Grace of God and Lynn’s incredible strength, we got through it.

“So, when the opportunity came up and God said, ‘Go take this training,’ He opened the door and I took the training. I didn’t want anyone to go through this incredibly difficult but very necessary process, alone.”
